3 yr old Ella

2009, Feb.2nd, Ella
SN: SN: postoperative CHD (ASD VSD); abnormal chromosome; karyotype46, xx,r(15); retard development

She is an active girl with a strong mind. Although she is weak physically, she tried her best in doing everything. She could zip her clothes by herself, and she has learned to eat by herself. She wears diapers usually, but the caretakers would train her to defecate every month. As for physical development, now she can walk steadily on her own, and she can run and jump flexibly. She is excited to meet people and she would run around when she is excited. She was not fond of TV, but she could turn on the TV. She loves to eat snacks, especially fruit and candies. She likes to have meat. On language ability, she can speak, but basically phrases with 2-3 words. She could distinguish acquaintances and strangers. She can play with people she is not familiar with, but she would not leave home with them. She has skin problems, sometimes she would suffer from allergy itching and other symptoms. She was allergic to Cefixime for Suspension, and she would have red rash.

Her weight: 10.5 kg, height: 84 cm, head size: 43 cm, chest size: 46.5 cm, 20 teeth

It sounds like this child has an extremely rare genetic condition called Ring Chromosome 15 Syndrome, which resulted in a combination of heart and lung problems, growth retardation, and perhaps other symptoms not mentioned in the short summary you quoted. Apparently only 50 cases of this condition have been reported since it was first identified in 1966.

This technical paper describes a possibly similar case: http://www.hkjpaed.org/pdf/2011;16;175-179.pdf

2 yr old Jesse

Darling Jesse was born Feb 7, 2010. Jesse is from Social Welfare Institute of Jiangcheng district of Yangjiang city in Guangdong province. Jesse has abnormal chromosomes, and really outwardly looks male. Jesse is being raised female but I believe they are doing this because girls are more likely to find families.
Jesse is a very quiet child and is known to sit and take everything in. Jesse likes music and playing with toys.
This child would do very well in a family that is willing to take the time to help her/him develop into whomever Jesse is meant to be.

Jesse is on the shared list. Email me at advocatingmomma@aol.com for more information.

2 yr old Kasey

Darling Kasey was born Feb 1, 2010. He is from Social Welfare Institute of Xuzhou City in Jiangsu province. He is missing the iris in his left eye. That's it. Although not much is checked off on his growth report, the nannies say he likes being teased and gets around in his walker. It also states he loves toys and music and has a quick smile and sweet disposition. He appears to be developmentally on track.

He is on the shared list. Email me at Advocatingmomma@aol.com for more information.

8 yr old Winnie is on the shared list and Reese's Rainbow!

WE HAVE ALSO GOTTEN HER ONTO REESE'S RAINBOW, WHICH MEANS THAT ALL DONATIONS TO HER FUND ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE! SO EVEN IF YOU AREN'T ABLE TO ADOPT HER YOURSELF, YOUR DONATION COULD BE INSTRUMENTAL IN HELPING A FAMILY BRING HER HOME.

DOB: 12/27/02
SN: mild humpback
CWI of Shunde District Foshan City
In China, many people believe it’s important to welcome the new year with new clothes. Eight-year-old Winnie is so proud of her new coat and is ready to bring in the Year of the Rabbit!
Winnie is a very sweet girl who lives at the Shunde orphanage in Guangdong, where LWB has done orphanage assistance projects.
This girl is always smiling and is very outgoing. The nannies love her because she is an excellent helper! Cleaning the table, mopping the floor, making beds, folding clothes and feeding babies are all fun and games for Winnie. She has a little humpback (a frontward curving of the spine that causes a bowing of the back), but it is said to not be too serious. Winnie walks very well, although occasionally she is a little unsteady. She expresses herself well but has difficulty articulating some of her words. Winnie is very happy to have a new coat (even it is a little bit too large for her) and can’t wait to celebrate Chinese New Year. Perhaps next year she will be able to celebrate the Year of the Dragon with her forever family!

Email me at Maeveyblue@aol.com for more information about her.

5 yr old Kennedy is on the shared list

Kennedy loves singing songs and asking questions during class. He compliments others around him and loves to talk to visitors. He has a ready smile and enjoys interacting with visitors.  He has such a sweet sincere spirit and is a delight to everyone who knows him.

When I met Kennedy, I noticed right off how goofy he is. He loves to joke and laugh and pretend he doesn't speak English only to be able to then zing you with an English phrase. He is such a hoot!

And he has been waiting for so long for his family...

Born: 2/13/2006
Special need: Hydrocephalus
Medical update: PT

Update: There was a group that went there this last week and this is what one of the women wrote about Kennedy..

"Kennedy has hydrocephilis. He is incredibly intelligent and when he isn't pretending that he can't speak, serves as an interpretor for me. They think that if he didn't have the hydrocephilis that he would probably be a genius. I have a video of him singing (in Chinese) "Jesus loves me"."

2 yr old Max is on the shared list

Picture taken 10-5-11

Max is very quiet but does like it when visitors interact with him. He is very interested in his surroundings, is easy to please and loves to laugh. Being tickled is one of his favorite things and he also enjoys playing with toys.
Born: 08-31-2009
Special need: 1.dysraphism rt eye, drooping mouth. 2. left nipple& pectoralis major absent 3.syndactylia of 2 fingers
http://www.polands-syndrome.com/

Update on him from SF doctor as of 8-28-11

He recently had a genetics evaluation via photos and internet consultation:
Diagnosis:  Left upper arm and chest abnormality and left hand symdactyly
Discussion:  1. Possible chromosomal deletion or duplication.
                      2. Possible mild atypical Poland syndrome/sequence.
                            -  This condition includes absent sternal head of the pectoralis major muscle, absent or displaced nipple and symbrachydactyly.  It is thought to be a sporadic insult, maybe vascular.
                           -  Poland syndrome/sequence is sometimes associated with Moebius syndrome (6th and 7th nerve palsy) and occasionally Goldenhar Syndrome.
Additional testing:
They recommended getting a chromosomal microarray (CMA) to rule out
chromosomal abnormalities.  This blood test is not available in China.  We are currently looking
into sending samples to the states or the test could be done after adoption.
